Every dog lover is familiar with the term “canine comfort.” It is how dogs show empathy to their owners. It is one of the many pieces of proof of how dogs love their owners.
Recently, a dog went viral for showing his love and loyalty to his fur parent, Russell Jones. Russell had an accident and injured his right leg. He then limped while walking.
But what concerns him and his wife is their dog, Billy. He noticed that Billy walked differently when they were out for a little walk. The dog walks like a limped dog with his left front leg up.
The couple worried that they had decided to take Billy to a vet and let him be checked. They spent £300 ($410) for the dog’s checkup and laboratory work. Surprisingly, after the checkup, the dog was beautiful.
On their way home, Billy still acts like his left front leg is injured. So, Russell and his wife thought what the vet told them was correct. If there’s nothing wrong with Billy, why does he still limp?
The answer becomes clear when they go home. They saw Billy playing in the garden without a limp. They figured out that their dog fakes the injury whenever they are around.
Eventually, they realized that Billy pretended to be a limp dog to empathize with Russell. Dogs do feel the suffering and pain of their owners. This is “Canine Comfort” or “Canine Empathy,” which is evident in Billy’s empathic act.
Others might not understand why Russell spent $410 to ponder the loyalty and love of his pet dog, Billy. But for a fur dad like Russell, Billy’s empathic behavior is worth more than $410, I guess. For someone who is a dog lover, it is priceless.
